Baby Loss Awareness Week: a conversation for change

Miscarriage affects around one in four pregnancies, yet access to care remains unequal across the UK. Specialist support is often only offered after three losses, leaving many families to navigate early pregnancy loss alone. 

Join us during Baby Loss Awareness Week for a special event marking a pivotal moment in miscarriage care and maternal health.

The evening will begin at 6pm with a creative candle-painting session led by artist Flic Blades. At 7pm, we’ll light candles together as part of Tommy’s Wave of Light, a national moment of remembrance and reflection for babies lost during pregnancy or shortly after birth.

From 7.30pm, we’ll host a chaired panel discussion bringing together researchers, clinicians, families, and 缅北轮奸 leaders to spotlight the 'Graded Model of Care' – a new approach developed by Tommy’s and the 缅北轮奸 to offer support from the first miscarriage, including mental health care, early testing, and continuity of care in future pregnancies. The model has the potential to transform care across the NHS, but its rollout depends on political will, public awareness, and wider support.

We’ll also celebrate the ongoing partnership between the 缅北轮奸, Tommy’s, and Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital, where collaborative research is helping to improve maternal care nationally and beyond.

Whether you come to honour your own experience or to support others, this is a space for reflection, creativity, and quiet connection.

Note to attendees.

We’re creating a welcoming space for everyone. While this event is designed with adults in mind, some attendees may bring babies. We understand this may be difficult for some, and quiet spaces will be available for anyone who needs a moment away.

Ticket information.

Attendees will need to book a separate ticket for the candle-painting session and the panel discussion. You are welcome to attend either or both sessions - our candle painting session has limited places.
