The bells resonate across campus and beyond, their sounds shaped and reshaped by nearby buildings, creating a distinctive sonic signature that often goes unnoticed in the rhythm of daily life.\n By installing speakers at the top of the tower and at key locations across campus, specially composed sounds will complement and extend the natural chimes, enriching the existing acoustic landscape. This immersive experience invites the University Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é to hear ‘Old Joe’ in a new way—drawing attention to its significance as a sonic landmark while blurring the lines between past and present, tradition and innovation.\n This installation draws on the expertise of Birmingham Electroacoustic Sound Theatre (BEAST), an internationally renowned collective based at the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é. The sound compositions have been created by past and present BEAST members, alongside students from the Department of Music, highlighting the University’s pioneering role in spatial audio and sonic arts. Through this collaboration, the project not only celebrates the University’s rich heritage but also its ongoing influence in shaping innovative approaches to sound and composition.\n FREE\n LOCATION:Chancellor's Court and beyond STATUS:CONFIRMED TRANSP:OPAQUE CLASS:PUBLIC END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
