The Tower Ballroom was recently demolished to make space for luxury flats.\n Ladywood is an area which is under threat of gentrification due to its closeness to Birmingham city centre, risking the erasure of its strong working class history. Ladywood is one of the most deprived, one of the youngest, and most diverse areas in Europe.\n Researched and developed by members of the local Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é, this documentary aims to break this disconnect and re-establish a sense of place and identity in Ladywood by exploring the heritage and importance of skating to Ladywood and Birmingham residents across history.\n The screening will be followed by a panel of Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é members and creatives involved in the making of the documentaries, and experts on Birmingham’s social and cultural history.\n Audience members can arrive at the Mockingbird early to enjoy a drink in the café. Parking and access details can be found on the Mockingbird Cinema website.\n This event is organised by Bertz Associates in association with the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é’s Culture Forward initiative.\n The Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é is a proud sponsor of Birmingham Heritage Week.\n LOCATION:Mockingbird Cinema - The Custard Factory - Gibb St - B9 4AA STATUS:CONFIRMED TRANSP:OPAQUE CLASS:PUBLIC END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
